Bruce and Elizabeth Beattie established Leon’s Owen Sound in its current location in 1987. Our business consists of a 24,000 sq. ft warehouse and our 36,000 sq. ft. showroom at 1104 7th Street East, home to almost 50 full and part time employees.

Clarence and Wilma Beattie, with their son Paul, launched the first incarnation of the family business in 1947 in Balmy Beach, just north of Owen Sound. After losing their Feed and Farm Supply and General Store to fire in 1967, the Beattie’s rebuilt a new feed, farm supply, hardware and appliance store. As the business grew and flourished, the Feed and Farm Supply was sold, allowing the family to focus on the Pro Hardware, Appliance, and Electronics business. Bruce and Elizabeth Beattie returned to Owen Sound in 1983 and purchased the business from his parents, relocating to the present location as it outgrew the Balmy Beach store.

Our staff members are the heart of our business. Recognized across the Leon’s family of stores as a leader in service and value, Leon’s Head Office has recognized the Owen Sound store with a number of awards throughout the years, including “Store of the Year” on three occasions. We proudly carry on the Leon’s tradition of honouring customers through superior product quality, selection, and initiatives such as our Integrity Pricing (hyperlink).
